2006 STREETSTOCK RULES

 

SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Track officials may check any car at any time. If any piece or part is found unsafe vehicle will not be allowed to race until car is brought up to safety standards. This however will not guarantee your safety.

(A) Drivers fire suit free of grease and oil recommended.

(B) There must be at a 4-point stock car safety harness that will pass inspection, fastened to frame or roll cage. No reel out mechanism or regular passenger seatbelts.

(C) Safety helmet, Snell 85 minimum required at all times when on track.

(D) A minimum of 3 inches clearance required between top drivers helmet and bottom of overhead roll cage bar.

(E) All doors must be bolted of welded shut and not be cut down.

(F) All glass except windshield must be removed. Windshield must have safety glass at all times. No plexi-glass or lexan is allowed. Must have WINDOW NET in driver’s window. No closing in of side windows.

(G) Must have overflow cans for radiator in engine compartment, also for engine breather.

(H) Must have bumpers in original position. Any stock type no sharp edges exposed. Chain must hold front and rear bumper to frame. An appropriate device may be used on rear bumper to alleviate problems of hooking bumpers. Device must b securely fastened to frame behind rear wheels and may run along either inside or outside of rear fender and be securely fastened to rear bumper. Fender may be bolted to this device with carriage type bolts. This device may not be corner braced or "X" braced in any manner that would significantly strengthen end of rear bumper. Also may not be fastened to anything not described above.

(I) Must have grill area meshed in.

(J) Drive shaft must have loop front and rear. Drive shafts must be painted white.

(K) All cars must have 4 wheel brakes working. Stock type brake pedal. Absolutely no adjustable proportioning valves. Master cylinder must be under hood in stock location. No 4 wheel disk brakes. No drilled rotors. Only one master cylinder is allowed.

(L) Batteries installed inside car must have protective covering and be securely fastened down.

(M) There must be 2 hooks front and rear, for easy tow truck pick up.

(N) Trunks lids and hoods and tailgates must be securely fastened in place with safety pin retainers.

(O) A securely fastened, quick release fire extinguisher is required within easy reach of the driver. Must have recharge dated no later than January 1st of current year.

(P) Must have stock steering column in stock location.

BODIES:

(A) Only North American steel bodied cars and  1/4 and 1/2 ton pick-up with front engine. No front or four wheel drive vehicles. No convertibles, Mustangs, Baracudas., Camaros, Challengers, or Firebirds are allowed. 

(B) Wheel base of 108 inches minimum for cars and 115 inches for trucks. All chassis must remain stock length and must be registered on application.

(C) Only steel body allowed in stock position and be neat appearing, must have all doors, hoods, fenders and trunk lids unless damaged at race meet.

(D) All chrome moldings, ornaments, door handles, glass, headlights, tail lights and plastic components etc. must be removed. Original wheel arches must be retained but front inner fenders may be removed. All hood and trunk bracing and hinges must be retained. Cars must be presentable and not have foul language printed in them. Must have a minimum of 2 hood pins.

(E) Bumpers must be properly mounted with ends not cut off.

(F) All the interior upholstery must be removed. All inner panels must be retained and all holes in fire wall must be covered with steel. Either inner door may be removes providing it is replaced with 3 1 ½ inch dia. and .095 thick bars placed tight against door skin. Scuff bars 1 ½ inch pipe or square tube may be used. They must be securely fastened with at least 4 3/8 dia. Bolts with smooth carriage type head or be counter sunk into scuff bars.

(G) No exterior mirrors.

(H) Bucket seats may be used, if it is a fold down type it must be secured to avoid pitching forward.

(I) Body mounts must be in stock location and be stock components. This rule means six body mounts starting at front of car.

(J) Roll bars must be used to protect driver. There must be four upright joined at top with four pipes. There also must be 2 pipes going back to the frame. They must be electric welded and have gussets at all joints. There must be 3 1 ½ dia. and .095 thick pipes inside of both doors. Inner door parts (not hinges) may be removed to accommodate them. Also there must be a bar from door cage to frame to protect driver feet. All pipes in driver’s area are to be 1 ½ in dia. and .095 inches thick minimum.

(K) The driver’s seat must remain in front seat location. Not back past the center post.

(L) Car Number: Numbers will be assigned by track officials. Numbers must be at least 18 inches high and 3 inches wide and lettered neatly. Numbers should be as large as possible for ease of scoring. They must contrast with body color vehicle. The vehicle must have numbers on both sides and right side of roof. Scorers will not accept responsibility for incorrect scoring of cars on which numbers are not clear and easily read. A 6 inch high number must be painted on right side of windshield.

 

DRIVE TRAIN:

(A) Drive train must be stock and unmodified with the following exceptions: springs may be torched to lower vehicle or exchanged for heavier ones as long as it is a stock manufacturers spring. GM in GM. Ford in Ford etc. Sway bars must be in stock location.

(B) Transmission must be automatic and have a stock type torque converter with a maximum 1800 RPM stall speed. No 2 speeds. Transmissions can not be used in any 1 to 1 ratio.

(C) Differentials must be open.

 

SUSPENSION:

The suspension must be absolutely stock for year and make of chassis. All chassis will be checked and classed legal as to year and make of chassis. Chassis such as police cars, taxi etc. will have to conform to regular passenger car chassis for that year and make of car. For example every street stock must be running regular, ordinary, and unmodified stock passenger car rotors, brakes, spindles, control arms, ball joints, pitman arms, idler arms and steering boxes. Suspension must not be changed or modified (braced) in any way.

The Following May not be changed:

    1. Stock sway bars in original position on frame and lower control arm. If chassis came with sway bar on rear it may be used in stock location.
    2. Shocks must be stock or stock replacement. One per corner of car. No air shocks coil or racing shocks. Part numbers must be on shock.
    3. Stock trailing arms in stock location.

 

FUEL AND FUEL TANK:

(A) All fuel tanks must be completely enclosed in a steel box of 16 gauge minimum installed in trunk compartment or in box of truck. No gas cans are to be used. Tanks must be installed above and between frame rails as close to fire wall as possible strapped to frame of care. Frame may be braced between rear axle and rear of frame with 2 pipes or square tubes 1 ½ max. These may be in "x" or parallel configuration. The fuel tank may be fastened to these and they may be welded to each other if they are crossed. Nothing else accepted other than described above. Also a loop up to 1 foot high may be welded to top of frame near rear bumper and braced forward on each corner up to 16 inches along frame.

 

(B) Must have full steel (not aluminum) fire wall between gas tank and driver. Gas line must be under floor.

(C) Stock mechanical fuel pumps only. Absolutely no electric or belt driven fuel pumps.

(D) Pump gas of 0.765 max. specific gravity only.

WHEELS AND TIRES:

(A) Stock steel passenger wheels only 7 inches wide maximum measured from bead seat to bead seat. The only exception to this is the front right wheel may be after market with 2 or 2.5 inch offset or reinforced.

(B) Wheel studs may be exchanged for larger ones.

(C) All tires must be D.O.T. approved for street use. P235-70 is the largest belted tire allowed. Equivalent radial tires 7 ½ inches wide also permitted. No "V" rated tires, recaps, or truck tires. All tires subject to approval of officials in charge.

(D) Tires are not to be treated with or injected with any softening agent.

ENGINE:

(A) No high performance equipment of nay kind even if made by original manufacturer.

(B) Engines that can be used are Chev 350, Ford 351 Windsor, Dodge 318 or 360. 0.030 overbore is permitted. Heads must match block (i.e. 350 heads 350 block).

(C) Stock pistons for year and make of car only. No forged pistons. Compression will be taken for tech use. Compression shall not be over 155. No flat top pistons allowed.

(D) No high performance heads. Open chambers only. Minimum combustion chamber permitted is: Chev 76 cc, Ford 67.5 or 70.5 depending on pistons used.

(E) Only one carburetor permitted. Carburetor must be stock for year and make of vehicle. No adapter plates or spacers permitted.

(F) Stock manifolds for engine and year of car. No ramhorns permitted.

(G) If single exhaust is used pipe must be 2 inches in diameter after y pipe. If dual exhaust is used the max. dia.is 2"od with the last foot be no larger than 1 ½ od. Exhaust pipe must extend behind driver and in front of rear wheel.

(H) Hydraulic cam and lifters only. Must be stock for year and make of vehicle. Duration as follow: Chev in. 260 ex. 273, Ford in. 278 ex. 283, Dodge in. 273 ex. 273. Lifts as follows: Chev in. 390 ex. 410, Ford in. 442 ex. 450, Dodge in. 410 ex. 410.

(I) Larger radiator may be used providing they fit in the original cradle. No aluminum radiators. No aluminum water pumps, except where stock on Dodge and Ford.

 

Track management has the right to suspend any vehicle or driver any time for just cause. These rules are designed to make an inexpensive class, with no performance equipment of any kind after market or otherwise.

Also no talking or listening devices.

Cars found illegal at one track will be reported to other tracks.
